‘Under The Mistletoe’ Buyout – ARGENTINA

November 12th, 2011

Last November 1st I organized my first Buyout in Argentina. Haley (@Bieber_Project) gave the idea. I started to plane it, I created an Event on Facebook, and over 300 people showed up in Musimundo that night. It was AWESOME, one of the best experiences of my life. Me and a lot of Beliebers bought as many Albums as we could, and then, we donated them to our favorite Charity, just like Justin says: GIVE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN RECIEVE. I honestly had a great time with a lot of Beliebers, I couldn’t believe there were so many people, so greatful for all the support. I just want to say THANK YOU, it wouldn’t be possible without you. Conti ! @ContiReynoso @Hechosbeliebers !! Justin saw my video and tweeted it!!!! I can’t believe it!!!!

After failing to secure their place in South Africa two years ago until the last match, the road to Brazil 2014 should be smoother for the Argentinians as the hosts qualify automatically and the region retains an additional four spots, plus one play-off place. But Barcelona star Messi does not want anybody to relax. He said: “We have to win every match at home. The qualifiers here are always very tough, and beginning against Chile will be very hard as well.” Following the 2010 World Cup disappointment, Sergio Batista replaced Diego Maradona as coach, but he did not last long and two months ago Alejandro Sabella took control of the team. Messi said: “We start from scratch again; this team needs a lot of work yet. We have to take advantage of every minute we have together.” Having been named captain by Sabella, the fans will be hoping Messi, who has never been able to replicate his form for Barcelona at international level, can hit new heights. “One player can’t win a match,” he said. “That never happens, anywhere

Argentina seeks life term for ex-navy officer

October 27th, 2011

An Argentine court is due to sentence a former navy captain dubbed the Blond Angel of Death along with 17 others for kidnap and torture during the 1976 to 1983 military rule. Alfredo Astiz and the other defendants are accused of abuses at the Navy Mechanics School detention centre and could face life in prison. Official figures say 9000 people were kidnapped, tortured and killed in what became known as Argentina’s “Dirty War,” but many believe the real number to be closer to 30000. Al Jazeera’s Teresa Bo reports from Buenos Aires.
